Introduction
Hi, I'm Dr. Tim Blankenbeker, an optometrist and dry eye specialist for Michiana Eye Center. As part of my on-going mission to provide treatment options to patients for a variety of ocular conditions, I wanted to extend my experience in treating these conditions to a wider audience in the hopes that if you are suffering from ocular surface symptoms, you can find your path toward relief.
As a means of introduction, I’d like to share two illustrations with you:
I see patients with Ocular Surface Disease (OSD) similar to Bob and Savannah every day in my practice at Michiana Eye Center. I also see many patients that may not have symptoms as severe as the symptoms Bob and Savannah are living with. Some of them are experiencing even worse symptoms than those described.
My treatment has three phases:
I value my patients’ vision and comfort. I believe the technology and treatment available at Michiana Eye Center are state-of-the-art. It is a great privilege to practice in a clinic and serve a community where the goal is to give the best care possible.
In the months to come, I will be writing new and informative articles here. This is a unique forum that allows me to address more than I can in the exam room. I hope to give you a sense of the challenges that face people who live with OSD. It is my intention to provide people suffering the daily effects of OSD some hope that their symptoms can be managed. I know that I have the tools I need to bring you relief. Please check back often and share this post with anyone you know who may be suffering the effects of OSD.
